As COVID-19 continues to create uncertainty across world markets, long-time dietary supplement manufacturer Columbia Nutritional is meeting the challenges head on by working more closely than ever with customers to produce high-quality supplements.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has really wreaked havoc on worldwide supply chains and injected a lot of uncertainty,” said Brea Viratos, Chief Executive Officer for Columbia Nutritional. “That’s created challenges for everyone, including Columbia Nutritional and our customers. But we’ve taken some proactive steps to help eliminate some of those challenges and help our customers continue to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible, no matter the circumstances.”
An expansion in 2017 created more challenges than anticipated, and as a result, Columbia Nutritional filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February 2020. The company has quickly reorganized and emerged in a strong position under new leadership. The company has renewed its commitment to quality, regulatory expertise and open communications with customers. Under Viratos’ leadership, Columbia Nutritional is focused on quality to ensure that its dietary supplements not only meet federal quality requirements – they exceed them. The company’s experienced team partners with customers on everything from R&D to production and navigating federal regulations.
“We know how important quality is to our customers, especially now,” Viratos said. “We also know that they want to be able to run their businesses with confidence, knowing they are operating in line with federal regulations and delivering products that exceed quality standards. Our experience helps them do all of that.”
In addition, Columbia Nutritional has increased communications with customers, providing weekly status reports and monthly On-Time Delivery reports while regularly sharing key formulation records.
Internally, Columbia Nutritional has been implementing continuous improvement measures with the goal of achieving ever-greater efficiencies, higher quality, better results with on-time deliveries and additional gains. The result is a sharp focus on customers’ needs to help ensure they’re able to operate successfully in today’s market.
“Times are challenging, but we’re working with our customers more closely than ever to help them succeed,” Viratos said. “We’re putting more than 20 years of experience, our commitment to quality and our expertise in the industry to work for them.”
